Lisa the Blogger

We watched "Mom's Night Out" last night, and I would imagine that lots of new "Mommy Blogs" will crop up because of it, but I decided to start blogging. I found out this morning that blogging is a career, but I don't want mine to be for money. I want it to be a place where I share my thoughts and my worries and my accomplishments with my friends and family. It made me think of our old bishop explaining why he had a Facebook. He said that he had a Facebook so he could share uplifting and inspirational quotes with people and hopefully help them grow in their testimony by reading his posts. I hope that my blog will have the same effect, in some small way.

So I'll start with what I learned from scripture study this morning. I am reading "The Book of Mormon" and writing Clay a note on each page. This morning I was reading in Alma about all of the Lamanites that eventually converted to the Lord and joined the Anti Nephi Lehies. Chapter 25 explains how the decedents of King Noah's priests were caught up in a war and were eventually destroyed, some of them by fire. Then it hit me, this chapter was written by Mormon when he was abridging the plates. He had the whole story. He was reviewing history and he could draw the parallels that he did as he abridged the plates. When Abinadi was preaching to King Noah and his priests, he declared that "What ye shall do unto me shall be a type of things to come." They didn't know at the time what that actually meant, but Mormon was able to explain what that meant, because he was looking back.

I don't know why this had such a profound effect on me, or why I feel like I need to share this in a blog, but I was thinking about it and wanted to write out my thoughts.  Sometimes I feel like I should have all the answers, that I should be able to discern and figure out what everyone needs in the moment.  But sometimes, that just isn't possible.  We will figure out why things happened when they did and how they did in the future.  We will be able to look back and realize how life turned out just the way God said it would and just the way we were promised it would.

Right now I feel like I'm in the thick of chaos.  During the movie I was laughing and crying at the same time because I understood EXACTLY how the mom in the movie felt.  I understood her stress.  I completely understood her "then I would lose it" moments…and then it showed a mushroom cloud picture.  At one point in the movie, she said that the had lost it like 5 times that week.  I feel like that's exactly where I'm at.  By the end of the movie, she feels better and is happy with her life and can see the happiness in the small moments.  I think that's the problem with watching those kinds of movies, you think that you can just flip a switch and be okay, that it happens in 30 seconds.  That 30 seconds flashed the mom and her kids in like 5 different outfits, so lets say it took at least 5 days.  All I'm saying is, it takes work.  I think that with time, the switch will flip and I will be able to enjoy the happy moments in my life.  I'm working on it, thus the blog.

The happy moment of this morning was Clay helping clean up Baby Jesse's spit up.  Jesse is like a fountain, or volcano, of vomit.  Clay spit up a lot too, but I think that by 6 months he was kind of over the hump…but he did have to take medicine and we did super saturate his formula…anyways.  One of the major forms of my stress is vomit all over the carpet in our rental home.  We are even looking at buying a house so that we won't have carpet, so the vomit will be easier to clean up…okay, back to the point of this story…my happy moment of the day.  Clay is a super great big brother! The baby spit up and Clay said "Uh-Oh, meme pit"  (uh-oh, baby spit) and then got his Superman towel and cleaned up the baby spit and patted the baby on the head.  It was so sweet.  He takes such great care of his baby brother.  I feel very lucky to have such cute and sweet and, basically, totally awesome kids.

Off to start the day with a run with Jason…hugs!
Lisa
